About the Data Boot Camp
The Hi! PARIS Data Boot Camp is a 5-day summer discovery course on Artificial Intelligence and Data Science using Python. Designed for HEC Paris and Institut Polytechnique de Paris‘ students interested in these fields, it requires no prior knowledge.
It objective is to develop students’ awareness and give them an overview of the use of Data Science in a business world and help them to put it in practice.
The Data Boot Camp is organized by Hi! PARIS, the center dedicated to Data Science and AI created by HEC Paris and Institut Polytechnique de Paris in 2020 with Inria joining in 2021.
Date & Location
The upcoming event will be held both online and onsite, offering flexibility for participants.
- The online session are scheduled from August 19 to August 23, running daily from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
- The onsite session will take place at Télécom Paris from August 26 to August 30, also from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
Participants in the Data Boot Camp can choose between two tracks based on their skill level: Beginner or Intermediate.
- The Beginner track is designed for those who are new to data science and artificial intelligence, offering foundational knowledge and hands-on practice to build essential skills.
- The Intermediate track is tailored for those with some prior experience, providing more opportunities to deepen their expertise.

FAQ
Can I participate to the Data Boot Camp?
The Data Boot Camp is open to students from Institut Polytechnique de Paris (École polytechnique, ENSAE, ENSTA, Télécom SudParis and Télécom Paris) and from HEC Paris (from M1 (former L3), M2, MBA and EMBA.)
I have no prior knowledge in Data Science; can I still participate?
Yes, you can.
- If you are new to data science and artificial intelligence, you can join the “beginner track” in which we will offer you foundational knowledge and hands-on practice to build essential skills. You will receive a pre-boot camp course that will help to know more about Python before the event.
- If you have some prior knowledge and experience, you can join the “intermediate track” providing you with more opportunities to deepen your expertise.
How important is it to form interdisciplinary teams?
While it’s not compulsory, we recommend creating interdisciplinary teams to effectively address the challenges of the Data Boot Camp, which demand both coding skills and market insights.
Each team should include at least one proficient student in data science or a related field to enhance your chances of success in the competition.
What will I need to do during the Data Boot Camp?
During the Data Boot Camp, participating teams will be tasked with developing a data science model, explaining their scientific approach, and creating a business-related project.
How can I prepare for the Data Boot Camp?
You will receive two pre-boot camp crash courses:
- The first contains basic elements of Python syntax. If you’ve never done Python before, or if you want to refresh your memory, we strongly recommend that you go through this notebook before the course week. Having a first experience of python will allow you to approach the Data Science courses with more serenity.
- The second is a teaser for a Data Science course.
