Hi!ckathon 2022 – Opening

On the weekend of 5th and 6th of March 2022, was organized the second edition of the Hi!ckathon, the Hi! PARIS Data Science and entrepreneurship hackathon.

The event is supported by the five Hi! PARIS corporate donors: L’Oréal, Capgemini, TotalEnergies, Kering and Rexel, which will reward 5 winning teams with thematic prizes.

Hybrid mode and 5 weeks of training online

After a first edition fully online in 2021, the event is this year held in a hybrid format. While it is mainly intended for students of HEC Paris and IP Paris, talented profiles from other universities were also able to join the challenge. A total of 236 students from 30 school and universities and 7 different countries were on the starting line.

To better prepare the participants for the challenge, they were offered a 5-week training program composed of courses, assignments and coaching on Data Science as well as weekly webinars held by experts of the corporate donors’ companies about the latest innovations in Artificial Intelligence (see our previous news on the “AI & Sustainability talks”).

Round table with coporate donors on AI for competitiveness and sustainability

As the chosen theme of this year’s hackathon is AI & Sustainability, the opening ceremony, held on Friday 4th, was the opportunity to bring together the our 5 Hi! PARIS corporate donors of Hi! PARIS around a panel discussion on AI for competitiveness and sustainability in market-leading companies.

Panelists: Ariane Thomas (L’Oréal), Charlotte Tison Pierron-Perlès (Capgemini Invent), Victor Martin (TotalEnergies), Grégory Boutté (Kering), Guillaume Dubrule (Rexel)

The panelists, who are leading initiatives related to AI and sustainability within their companies, have discussed how emerging technologies are reshaping the markets in every sector and why the adoption of AI is becoming a priority for major companies to offer the most value for their clients in a competitive context.

They have shared insights on the way AI could help in attaining sustainability engagements of companies and why engagement in this domain is at the top of the agendas of their companies.

Support of the participants and coaching sessions

Throughout the Hi!ckathon, the teams were coached by Data Scientists from the corporate donors’ teams, and a wide range of activities (team building, sports, webinars) were organized to facilitate their experience and make the event a memorable experience.

The Hi!ckathon is the perfect opportunity for students to sharpen their analytical skills as well as gain insights on the business opportunities of such technologies and their place in society.

All this, in line with the ambition of Hi! PARIS to become a center of international renown, made possible by the strong conviction of its corporate donors that technological excellence stems from the training of young generations.
